Oaxaca Red Epazote
Dysphania ambrosioides 'Oaxaca Red'
Uses: Culinary/Medicinal Duration: Annual
When to Sow: Spring Ease of Germination: Easy
(Wormseed) Attractive red form of epazote. Like the more common green variety, in Mexico it is traditionally cooked with black beans. Its use in food today may related to its ancient use to treat intestinal parasites and flatulence. Adding it regularly to food was probably an early preventative measure to ward off digestive problems.
