Humulus lupulus 'Pacific Gem'
Uses: Medicinal/Beverage/Industrial Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 3-8)
A late maturing triploid super alpha variety from New Zealand. The aroma is fruity, blackberry-like. It is a cross between a tetraploid smooth cone variety and an open pollinated variety. Yields are high, more than 2 tonnes per hectare; but yields can be hurt by mildew if not controlled. Currently under evaluation in Michigan for commercial use.
