(Gan-cao) One of the most commonly prescribed Chinese medicinal herbs. Its use is associated with longevity, mainly helping to relieve chronic gastric issues and respiratory symptoms. It is a tonic sweetener that is considered anti-inflammatory and expectorant while able to soothe irritated mucus membranes in the respiratory and GI tract. It is said to neutralize toxins and help regulate blood sugar levels. Chinese Licorice produces long pinnate branches, broad leaves, and clusters of lupin-like flower racemes that will eventually develop into a medicinal fruit. Growing Licorice is very beneficial to your garden. Not only does it help with soil nitrogen, it also helps to control erosion and provide habitat for helpful garden dwellers. Ht 36in (90cm).
