Irish Lace Marigold
Tagetes filifolia 'Dropshot'
Uses: Culinary/Beverage/Aromatic Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 9-10)
When to Sow: Spring Ease of Germination: Easy
Terrific for borders and for fragrance. Fine lacy leaves are intensely anise-scented. Grows in small compact bushes to 15-25cm (6-10"), excellent for edgings. The fresh leaves can be used in drinks, teas, salads and on seafood. Native to Latin America, from Mexico to Argentina. Why it is called "Irish Eyes" we have no idea, but we do know that it does not come from Ireland. A very special herb that deserves serious experimentation in the kitchen!
