North Eurasian small tree of increasing economic importance. Orange berries are rich source of vitamins A and C. Not suited for fruit production because fruits are small and too acidic. For fruits choose from among the improved cultivars listed separately. Seeds require 90 days stratification at 5°C/40°F to overcome dormancy. Plants raised from seeds will be half male and half female. Ht. 2–4m/7–13ft.
