(Old man artemisia) Naturalized from Spain and Italy, now found growing wild all over the United States. A highly aromatic woody perennial with gray-green fine textured foliage. Mainly grown for its lemon-pine-camphor essential oil, high in absinthol, similar to that of wormwood, which can be used as an antiseptic, astringent and insect repellent. Ancient mythology has it that the aroma will summon ones beloved. Commonly used in sachets and in potpourris. Can also be used for culinary purposes to ad a fresh zest to cooking, salads and sauces as well as herbal teas. Plant in full to partial sun in well draining soil. Drought tolerant. Height 75-120cm.
