Coconut Thyme
Thymus sp.
Uses: Aromatic Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 5-9)
A pleasantly scented aromatic variety that some say smells of coconut, although not convincingly. A prolific bloomer producing robust pale purple blossoms. Grows quickly and makes an excellent addition to rock gardens. Plant in sandy, well drained soil in full sun. Thyme is typically low maintenance, but will need to be pruned to encourage a bushy growth. Sensitive to over watering, as thyme is susceptible to fungal diseases and root rot.
