My cat has hyperthyroid and I would like to know if there is any herbs out there to treat him instead of the medication from the doctor which I have him on and the medication causes side effects 15%.

Once a cat is on thyroid medication, it is too late to use herbs as a replacement. However, herbs can help with complications arising from hyperthyroid as well as a number of the medication’s side effects. A good place to start would be to put your cat on a good, homemade diet. Recommendations for recipes can be found on this website ( under the posting "Dog and Allergies". It would also be useful for you to have your cat seen by a qualified practitoner who has experience working with animals and herbs as your cat will have a very specific history that needs to be taken into consideration before any herbal recommendations should be made.
