We have the hardest time keeping our dogs calm during holidays when fireworks are used or when storms are bad in our area. They scratch and tear the wood away from the door they get so upset!! We have tried pills from the vet but do not like giving these as this happens so frequently where we live. The dogs are lab mixes and are about 70 pounds each.

Please see the postings on this website (www.richters.com) entitiled: "Calming Dogs" and "Old Dog and Anxiety". In addition, you might also want to look at the use of homeopathic Phosphorus 30C for thunder and fireworks. Give one dose before the storm or fireworks begin. If this doesn’t help, you could try homeopathic Borax 30C, again one dose in advance. To dose homeopathics for a medium to large dog, put three pellets from the chosen remedy on a teaspoon. Place a matching teaspoon on top and crush the pellets between the spoons. Using the top spoon, slide the crushed pellets to the end of the bottom spoon. Open the dog’s mouth and pour the crushed pellets from the spoon into the dog’s mouth. Try not to touch the pellets with your hands and make sure your dog does not eat food 30 minutes before or after receiving the homeopathic remedy.
