I am a Sri Lankan, interested in growing stevia in Sri Lanka. May I know what spp. are suitable for Sri Lanka and what should be the ground conditions for stevia cultivation?

There is only species that is grown for stevia and that is Stevia rebaudiana. There are varieties of the species that have been developed but as of 2007 they are still not widely available to commercial growers. Most growers are growing a standard unnamed variety such as the variety Richters is selling.

Is there any possibility of finding a partner for a Joint Venture to grow stevia in Sri Lanka?

A joint venture is unlikely. Potential partners will prefer to work with established stevia growers. However, the market in South Asia is rapidly changing as stevia becomes better known, and more products sweetened with steviosides are introduced. You may be able to secure a contract to grow stevia for a South Asian buyer after you demonstrate success growing the crop.
