Who are the suppliers of yerba santa in very large quantities?

Yerba santa Leaf enjoys a small market of from 8 to 12 ton per year. It is primarily used for coating bitter pills (like quinine). It is about the sugars in the leaf. If this is something you might be interested in producing, I can set up a PO for about 7,000 lbs. this year (2008).

Harvests are best done prior to flowering, usually in late March. There are only two real stands of Yerba santa in the USA (Big Bear and Wiskeytown Lake), both in California. Stands can be found in Oregon, (Klamath and Rogue Rivers), but is not in full growth.

Price now is set at $2.50/lb for the sifted leaf. If you are interested in doing this for me, I take a 10% commission for sales and collections.
