Any herbs that help speed up the onset of puberty in a "late bloomer"?

Hormone imbalance can be a cause to a late onset of menstrual cycle. To ensure a hormonal balance, you can look at the following factors:

*Diet: should be healthy and balanced, to include the necessary vitamins and minerals that are required to produce hormones. Whole foods, including fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds andwhole grains should make up the major part of your diet. Sugar and food additives in processed food cause hormonal problems and should be avoided. Make sure there is enough protein in your diet. Supplements such as Evening Primrose Oil, vitamin B complex and a good multi vitamin & mineral supplement may be necessary for a few months until the effects of dietary changes kick in.

*Underweight: Diets, anorexia and digestive problems are some of the causes of low weight. If you have an eating problem, you should consult a health practitioner. Body fat is necessary for the hormonal cycle.

*Exercise: regular is required for good circulation and digestion, necessary for absorption and distribution of the nutrients required for hormone production. Too much exercise, as in vigorously training athletes, may use up the vitamins and minerals necessary for hormone production

*Thyroid: if you have cold hands and feet, this could be related to low thyroid functioning. Blood tests can determine this, and taking kelp may improve the condition

*Stress: If stress is a factor, relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation are helpful. Herbs that support the nervous system in stress are Chamomile (Matricaria recutita), Lavender and Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora).

*Anemia: A blood test can determine anemia if you have symptoms such as being tired and pale. Iron rich foods include meat, almonds, watercress and dried fruits. Vitamin C helps iron absorption. Floradix is a herbal iron blend if supplementation is required. If anemia persists, you should consult your doctor.

The liver is essential in the roles of digestion and hormones. Dandelion root is supportive of the liver. It can be taken in the form of Dandelion coffee, available at health food stores. Two or three cups should be taken daily.

Chasteberry (Vitex agnus castus) is the herb used to balance the hormones from their place of release in the pituitary gland.
