Herbal Body Wraps

I have a question about herbal wraps: exactly what are they and do they work? If I have one done will I have to continually keep having them done? I was given some information from a co-worker but she couldn’t tell me anything that I tried to ask her.

Herbal wraps may be given for many different reasons and in many different ways. You will have to ask the practitioner for details.

Often a full body wrap is used to induce prespiration, which eliminates toxins, to improve circulation and/or to produce a relaxation response. Herbal teas may be given before to promote sweating, and afterwards to replace minerals and liquid lost by sweating.

The body or body part may be wrapped tightly in hot or cold cloths for periods from half an hour to one and a half hours.

There is no reason that you would have to continue treatment. Like massage, one treatment will exert a beneficial effect. More treatments will increase or prolong the effect.

Caution must be taken using body wraps for people with circulation problems.
