I am presently taking St. Johns Wort. I would like to know if I could switch to Kava Kava? I would like to know the side effects of this herb. Someone told me it does some kind of damage to your heart. The St Johns Wort is good, but I need something more for anxiety.

It is important to look for the causes and triggers for your anxiety. Herbalists work on many levels to try to discover and treat the root cause of a problem, using herbs to bring the body into balance while changes in lifestyle or diet take effect.

Kava Kava is useful in anxiety in the short term. In the long term, it is possible that Kava can cause or deepen depression due to its activity of depressing the central nervous system.
