Hello; found your web site today and was interested in knowing if you all had heard any connection about flax seed helping to prevent breast cancer. The doctors found a small amount of breast cancer in my mother (she is 65) this year, and I took a breast cancer survey and found out that my risks are very high. My risks are increased because I am 28 years old and have never had any children yet, and of course for the fact that Mom obtained the cancer herself. A friend of a friend said she heard that flax seed keeps estrogen from bonding to the receptor sites on the breast and helps prevent the cancer from starting?

Susun Weed, in "Breast Cancer? Breast Health!" (Ash Tree Publishing) states that flax seed oil "adversely affects both initiation and growth stages of breast cancer and has been shown to be anti-tumor, antimitotic and antiviral (so long as it is not heated)". Weed buys only fresh flax seed oil (in a dated bottle) and keeps it refrigerated or frozen. Weed states that the seeds "appear to be anti-estrogenic and quite specific against breast cancer".

I highly recommend Susun Weed’s book. It is full of research and clinical information on breast health.
