My wife is taking Topamax for her pain, but it’s not helping. I heard that there’s a natural herb that will heal the pain. I don’t know what kind of herb it is but it’s from Cambodia. My question is: if she take the natural herb medication and Topamax at the same time, will there be a drug interaction?

Topamax is an anticonvulsant, used to decrease the incidence of seizures. It works by reducing nerve excitability. You need to avoid other drugs or herbs that will either stimulate or depress nervous activity while taking this drug.

Many herbs affect the nervous system. To determine what herbs may help your wife, it is necessary to consult a medical practitioner who is knowledgeable about your wife’s condition, the drugs she is taking, and the actions of herbs. Your best bet may be to research fully the herb in question and present the description with your question to your wife’s doctor.
