Do you know of any herbs for brown spots on the skin or herbs that would be for blockage in the liver?

Also, what do you recommend for energy?? I am tired all the time.

"Liver spots" or "age spots" are light brown spots on the skin of the hands and face that may be caused by free radical damage and insufficient function of the liver in detoxifying the body. They may occur in aging, especially on skin damaged by excess exposure to sun. The best defense is to reduce free radical damage and assist the clearing of toxins by increasing antioxidants in the diet, avoiding toxic food additives, preservatives and colourings, and ensuring daily exercise.

Antioxidants are available in fresh, organic fruit and vegetables. Some of the best are citrus fruit, berries, red grapes, tomatoes, broccoli, orange coloured fruit and vegetables and dark green leafy vegetables. Whole grains, nuts, seeds, apples, onions and garlic are helpful in detoxifying the body. Supplementation with vitamins A, C and E and the mineral selenium may be necessary if the diet provides insufficient vitamins and minerals.

Herbs that can help are the bitter herbs, such as Dandelion root, which stimulate liver activity, helping in its detoxification role.

Lack of energy is a symptom with various causes. Please see previous items on our website at http://www.richters.com: choose "Q&A" from the main menu, then choose "Search Richters Q&A", and enter the word "energy" or the word "fatigue" for the search.
