Someone told me that drinking 2 cups of hyssop tea a day would combat cold symptoms. Is this true? and would it be safe for a person taking prescription drugs for hypertension, blood thinner, heart irregularity, etc?

Yes, hyssop does help with cold symptoms. Its expectorant action helps to eliminate excess mucous from the lungs, and its diaphoretic action increases sweating to help reduce a fever. Its antispasmodic action calms an irritating cough. Hyssop increases blood pressure, so should not be taken in cases of high blood pressure, and it is diuretic, so high doses can cause excess elimination of urine when taken with diuretic drugs.
