I hope you can help. My Mom has leukemia. She is in her 80’s. Her weight is down from 150 to 95 pounds, but she is a fighter. She now has transfusions every two weeks. I asked her doctor about herbal supplements and he said fine, anything that will help.

Is there anything, any type of herbs or whatever she can use to help combat this awful disease, increase her blood platelets?

There are many different types of leukemia, and different treatments for each, as well as different treatments according to the condition of the individual.

Herbs that can help to build her blood are alfalfa and nettles: make a tea by combining 3 tablespoons of dried nettles and a teaspoon of dried alfalfa leaf in a cup of boiling water. Cover, and allow to steep for 30 minutes. Drink 3 cups daily. Ask for good quality herbs at your health food store.

Food that can help to build the blood include: a high protein diet; green drinks like wheatgrass juice; beets and beet juice.
