I am a Lupus Patient and also have degenerative disc disease in my neck and lower back. I have be prescribed 1200 mg of Gabapentin (neurontin) for chronic burning pain in my lower legs and feet. What is you recommendation for treatment and is there a lotion or ?? that would relieve the burning?

A capsaicin cream made from capsicum (hot peppers) is often helpful for the burning pain of a neuropathy. Because capsicum brings the blood circulation to the surface of the skin, it may cause stinging or redness when first applied. This usually diminishes with repeated treatment. Internally, vitamin B12 supplementation is sometimes helpful. Although this is available in capsule form, it is better absorbed by injection or sublingually.
