I have been suffering from severe muscular spasms in my shoulders, thigh and calf muscles for some time now. I was rushed by emergency vehicle to hospital, given many test and prescribed Valium 5 mg tabs. I was given no definitive cause. I have taken it upon my self to investigate and finally came across some information which stated that St. John’s Worts 0.3% will perform the same as the prescription drug. So as of 11/17/2006, I will be taking 1 capsule three time a day as an experiment Please let me know your thinking on this endeavour.

St. John’s wort is an excellent remedy for nerve pain. I suggest that you observe yourself for improvements with St. John’s wort capsules for a couple of weeks, and try some of the suggestions for muscle spasms on our website www.richters.com . Choose "Q&A" from the main menu, then enter "muscle spasm" for the search.

Because your capsule is "standardized" to 0.3% hypericin, it is not entirely natural. Herbal products that have been altered, such as this one, can cause side effects when used long term. I suggest that you try a good quality tincture of St. John’s wort. If you observe the same results with the non standardized product, then I suggest that you switch from the standardized product to the natural, non standardized product.
