What should I take for my cholinergic urticaria (heat hives) condition? I want to know if cleansing my body would help with this condition. I also ate alot of fast foods in the past. I’m 21 years old.

This is an allergic condition whereby the body’s immune response is hyper vigilant. From a holistic stand point it is necessary to cool this hyper or excess response so that the body can over come such a reaction through balance and harmony. Herbs which help to cool such a response are licorice, plantain, nettles and chamomile. These four herbs can be drank in combination as a tea 3 to 4 times per day to cool the immune system.

It is also important that the body learns that it does not need to be so hyper vigilant to heat and therefore herbs that help the body cope and respond to stress would be indicated for long term treatment. These herbs are called adaptogens and examples are ashwaganda, ginseng, holy basil, and Ganoderma mushrooms like Reishi.

Important foods would be essential fatty acids such as flax seed oil and fish oil.
