My friend has asked me to find out some information for him. A few months ago he ordered a reishi mushroom growing kit from Richters. He has been growing it and it’s doing very well. His mom has cancer and he has heard that reishi mushrooms can help. What he has asked me to find out is how to use the fresh mushroom he’s growing (in general, not specifically to treat cancer). Can it be eaten cooked like other mushrooms or what ways can it be used? How much mushroom would you use for a one person serving? Can you please send me info as to how to use the fresh mushroom; it’s big enough now that he could start to use it but he doesn’t know how.

The best way is to make a tea. Boil the water and place the cut up mushroom in 1 quart of the hot water. After the water has cooled down, strain. The strained mushroom can be eaten. Keep the tea in the fridge (it is enough for 2 days). Drink the tea 2 times a day, add 1 teaspoon of honey. It is not an instant cure. Reishi mushrooms strengthen the immune system and strengthens the body’s ability to fight infections.
