(Fringed sagebrush) An alpine and prarie native that is characterized by decorative silver green tufted mounds with small, densely laced foliage. Fringed wormwood does well planted in crevices, forming mats over rock. Although this variety is not commonly used for medicinal purposes anymore, it was once used by First Nations as fumigant to combat illness, or to chew on to treat indigestion. Its aroma is so high in camphor, it is almost reminiscent of turpentine. It is useful as a protein rich fodder for livestock and a fuel source in wood stoves where wood is scarce. Plant in full sun, in dry soil. Tolerates rocky or poor growing conditions. Cold hardy. Ht 1-1.5ft.
